Sci-Fi Cleaning with Purpose
Ambrosia Sky: Act One can be summed up as Metroid Prime meets PowerWash Simulator. Set on a derelict space colony within Saturn’s rings, you’ll explore labs, apartments, and farms while uncovering the colony’s tragic past. Equipped with a chemical sprayer, you clean deadly fungi that block passageways, disrupt power, and threaten life.
Switching between sprays and tools adds strategy to the otherwise cathartic cleaning mechanics, making each task both satisfying and meaningful.
Meet Dalia – Scientist and Scarab
You play Dalia, a field scientist and Scarab—an interstellar undertaker tasked with collecting biological samples and performing last rites. The colony is her birthplace, adding personal stakes to the investigation.
Through notes, emails, and memories, you uncover stories of the deceased, grapple with survivor guilt, and experience tender moments of empathy. Though Act One ends without resolving all plotlines, it sets up a compelling story with hints of corporate negligence, religious cults, and personal conflict. Act Two, expected in 2026, promises to continue this emotional journey.
Gameplay Mechanics and Upgrades
The game’s first-person cleaning is immersive and strategic. You can:
- Spray fungus with water for basic cleaning
- Use flammable sprays to burn resistant growths
- Apply electric sprays to manipulate colony systems
- Launch explosive canisters to clear large debris
While the levels are linear, careful planning is rewarded. Act One offers limited upgrades—mostly increasing ammo capacity—but these are expected to expand in future acts, adding depth to the gameplay.
Art, Sound, and Atmosphere
Ambrosia Sky’s painterly art style and atmospheric sound design bring the derelict colony to life. Twisted fungal roots, electrified growths, and abstract textures create a haunting, immersive world. Cleaning and exploration are meditative yet purposeful, evoking both melancholy and hope.
Verdict – A Unique and Poignant Experience
Ambrosia Sky: Act One successfully blends:
- Meditative cleaning gameplay
- Emotional sci-fi storytelling
- Immersive exploration
While some mechanics feel underdeveloped and the narrative ends before full closure, the game creates a memorable experience. Dalia’s journey is relatable and gripping, making Act One a strong start to a promising series.
Fans of narrative-driven, contemplative games will find much to enjoy, and the promise of future acts keeps the anticipation high.
