Dispatch, developed by AdHoc Studio, brings the spirit of Telltale Games’ episodic storytelling into a superhero adventure with a TV-show-like charm. You play Robert Robertson III, aka Mecha Man, a former hero whose mechsuit is destroyed. Recruited as a dispatcher by Blonde Blazer, Robert must lead a team of former supervillains, managing their missions across the city while mentoring them into true heroes.
The game’s core loop involves analyzing calls for help and sending heroes with the right stats—Combat, Vigor, Mobility, Charisma, and Intellect—to complete each mission. Some tasks require multiple heroes, strategic planning, or hands-on intervention through hacking minigames. Heroes gain experience, level up, and unlock passive abilities through training, while Robert also develops dispatcher perks to aid the team.
While Dispatch leans heavily on narrative and dialogue choices, major decisions have limited impact. Romance options with Blonde Blazer or Invisigal add depth, particularly through Robert’s mentorship of the conflicted Invisigal. Strong writing, expressive voice acting by Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey, and strategic gameplay make the experience compelling despite limited branching paths.
Verdict:
Dispatch successfully blends superhero action with management strategy, offering a fun, replayable adventure that feels like watching a great TV show. Its character-driven story, humor, and tactical gameplay make it a standout title for fans of narrative-driven games.
